What happens

Dan Holiday answers a letter from young Marty Kennedy, who is worried that his friend Ted, an assistant at a remote mountain observatory, has stopped signaling him. Holiday drives to the observatory to investigate and discovers that a fugitive jewel thief named Frank has taken over the facility, holding Ted, Professor Irving, and now Holiday himself hostage while he waits for the police to stop searching before he escapes.

A remote astronomical observatory on a mountain peak near the town of Collingwood, and the surrounding mountain roads.

Characters: Dan Holiday, Marty Kennedy, Ted Whitman, Professor Irving, Frank, Billy, Susie

Listen for: The story of Archimedes and the Roman soldier, told by Professor Irving to remind Frank that history remembers the great scientist, not the man who kills him. Marty's clever use of Morse code to signal for help, hiding a hidden message in the first letters of each word.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
