What happens
Boston Blackie takes a terrible song from Mary's cousin to music publisher Joe Hendrix, hoping the professional songwriting team of Dick Alton and Bill Rutley might improve it. When Blackie visits the piano room to find the composers, he discovers Dick Alton has been murdered, and the investigation quickly intensifies as police arrest Mrs. Rutley on suspicion of homicide.
A music publisher's office and piano room, with scenes at a police station and a bar.
Characters: Boston Blackie, Mary, Joe Hendrix, Dick Alton, Bill Rutley, Mrs. William Rutley, Inspector Faraday, Tommy
Listen for: The dreadful song 'In a Blue Canoe with You' that sets the plot in motion, and Blackie's witty banter with Mary and Joe Hendrix as the mystery unfolds.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
