Boston Blackie accepts a diamond from Charlie Kingston for safekeeping after Kingston loses it in a crooked card game to gambler Elizabeth Gaines. When Gaines' men come to retrieve it that night, Blackie claims he doesn't have it—having actually mailed it to himself at General Delivery. But the letter is picked up before he can retrieve it, and a switchboard operator in his building is murdered during the confusion.
Boston Blackie's apartment building and various locations around the city, including Elizabeth Gaines' gambling establishment and the post office.

Listen for: A clever scheme involving a mailed diamond, a murdered switchboard operator, multiple parties all seeking the same prize, and Blackie's clever deduction to identify the real killer.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
