What happens
Dorothy Kilgallen, a New York Journal reporter, is sent to Bayonne, New Jersey, after a woman is murdered with a hatchet and her teenage daughter Janet Graham and her boyfriend Charlie Mason are held for questioning. The police have been unable to get a word from the 17-year-old Janet, who keeps saying she doesn't know anything. Kilgallen is allowed to speak with her alone, and Janet begins to talk with her. This episode of the Big Story radio series, which first aired on October 15, 1947, is sponsored by Pall Mall cigarettes and stars the series' regular cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
