The National Broadcasting Company presents, transcribes, Ralph Richardson in Theatre Royal. This is Ralph Richardson. Our play today is based on a short story by A.J. Allen, a name that will be remembered and loved by many.
A.J. Allen developed his craft in the early days of broadcasting. The story's hero, he told himself on the air. in an extremely personal manner which is quite inimitable. Today we've dramatized one of these tales in which I shall be the storyteller.
It is called My Adventure in Norfolk. Well, I don't know how it is with you, but four or five weeks after the new year, my wife always says to me, have you thought about where we should go in August?
And of course I always say no. And then she starts looking through advertisements of bunglers to lead. But it happened last year as usual, and I had forgotten all about it, as usual. Until one very foul morning in February, it was slurring like a barnstormous production of East Lin.
Margaret looked up from her letters at breakfast and said, I think it's a very plain. The man seems very civil too. Oh, good. You know, if you ask me, the government will never get this new bill through.
It's in Northwicker, a place called Higgling Broad. Eh, what is? This bungalow, of course, I told you. It's furnished too with both house, garden and garage. It seems hardly possible. And, played in Millen, he says we can go and see it and stay the night.
He'll arrange for a woman to come in and oblige. Oh, just a minute. I remember now. Isn't that the place where the exorbitant rent? Yes, but you'll have to talk to him about that. But he's bound to come down, they always do.
