I'm the Whistler, and I know many things before I walk by night. I know many strange tales hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadow. Yes, I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak.

Now the Whistler's strange story. Garvey's Pollock. The opening night of the play, Bleak Houselight, was a gay, infestive time for the Broadway First Night as crowding the theater. But for Paul Garvey, the handsome and distinguished director-producer of the play, it was the most crucial night of his career.

Yes, your last two plays have been dismal failures, haven't they, Paul? And you've found everything you have in tonight's production to try to make a comeback. Your tent that you talk to Jessica Marlon, your leading lady, before the curtain goes up.

Like when we first met. Remember... You were just a stage struck kid. And how much in love we were. Were? And still are. Oh, it's wonderful to be back together again. This time nothing will come between us.

Except your wife. Good luck, Jessica. For both of us, darling. Hello, darling. The reviews? Yes, but the audience told me all I had to know. It was a charity, Paul.
