Dr. Stone, whose real name was Andrew Wilson, had drugged the men on the football team with a white powder he had brought in the jungles of Central America, a brain-numbing powder, the effects of which could be overcome by just one special antidote known only to the chief of the native tribe from whom the powder had been secured.

The location of the tribe was noted in a diary Andrew Wilton had kept, and Martha Hawkins offered to drive back to the sanatorium with Lois Lane and get the diary. Arriving there, she opened the best draw, but instead of producing the diary aimed at Revolver at Lois and warned her not to move if she valued her life. Days Lois stared into the woman's burning eyes, realized

she was half man. Listen. I'm warning you, Miss Lane. Don't move. Or I'll shoot the girl. What are you doing? This is talking. Don't call me the talking anymore. I told you who I am.

And Amanda Wilkins says this. We're burning together. It's not going to fail. Even if Angela is dead. Then there isn't any diary. You lied to her. Oh, there's a diary all right. And it tells her the location of her tribe, too.
