From the heart of the jungle comes a savage cry of victory. This is Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle. From the black core of dark Africa, land of enchantment, mystery and violence comes one of the most colorful figures of all time, transcribed from the immortal pen of Edgar Rice Burrows.

Tarzan, the bronze-white son of the jungle. And now in the very words of Mr. Burrows, the story of Ghost of the Carmiki. Even those of us who have visited Africa's teeming cities find it difficult to recapture them in our minds once we are back in civilization.

It's even hard to believe that certain places really exist, though we've seen them with our own eyes. The fantastic slave mark in the outskirts of Tarrac, for example. Unfortunately, it does exist. A barbaric, open-air market where humans are auctioned off like cattle or donkeys or camels.

Before the auction begins, you may inspect the goods to be sold. lift up a chin to examine the eyes and face, feel a muscle, prod a back that may soon be bent to your labor.

Prices today range from the American equivalent of about $15 to $150, and the bidding is usually spirited. The bidding is closed. 20-riat for this fine young boy who is capable of much heavy work. You have made the fine porches.

Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. And now, now the prize of our collection, this beautiful young native girl. Turn around so the multitude may see you. Notice the clear light color of her skin, the beauty of her face and form.

She will make someone a fine wife for a dancing girl. I invite the first bead. Come, come, the real beauty. 50,000. It is an insult to be such a paltry sum. She is but 17 years of age.
