Contraband

From the heart of the jungle comes a savage cry of victory. This is Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle. From the black core of dark Africa, land of enchantment, mystery and violence comes one of the most colorful figures of all time.

Transcribe from the immortal pan of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Tarzan, the bronze, white sun of the jungle. And now in the very words of Mr. Burroughs, the story of contraband. Unlike other continents, Africa is poor in islands.

With over 16,000 miles of coastline, it has only a half dozen islands large enough to earn a place on the map. And thus even a small coral island like San Laurentka, which is too small to appear in atlases and geography books, has great military importance.

The woman knew its importance. The woman who stood in the public square of San Laurentka's capital, her dark eyes flashing, her flowing hair tossing, A slim body swaying hypnotically as she incited the natives to rise.

Why should you work in the Europeans from one years end to the next? Why should you grubble beneath the foreigners' heels? Are you not foreign at all? I am one of you. Your skin whiter than ours.

The blood of many races flows in my veins. It is true my skin is whiter, but my heart belongs only with the people of San Bueranka. You not talk like rest of us, Tom. My speech has been changed by schooling and distant lands, but my education shall be a weapon to free you from the bounds of slavery!

We shall ban together! We shall kill every foreigner on the island! We will take over the wars, study warehouses, the governmental buildings, the hospital, the prison! We shall free the prisoners! We shall free all whom the whites have enslaved!
