The Little Girl and the Necklace

Once upon a time there was a little girl whose mommy gave her a beautiful gold necklace. This was a very special necklace. It was handed down from generation to generation for many years and now it was very valuable.

An uncle had it appraised at 150 thou, so naturally the little girl's mommy told her to be very careful not to lose it. Well, one day the little girl came back from the beach and discovered the necklace was gone.

The little girl was frightened. She locked herself in the room so her mommy wouldn't see that the necklace was missing. Every night for two weeks she wished upon the wishing star, asking that the necklace be returned.

She wished and wished until one day a strange bearded man appeared at her window, wearing and tattered clothing with a bright flower over his left ear. He mumbled something incoherent, held out his right hand, and sure enough he was looking for a handout.
