I'm going abroad. Hooray! Hey! You can't take all those notes with you. You can take your holiday or business allowance in travelers' checks, but not more than five pounds in sterling notes. And that five pounds is not for spending abroad, but to meet expenses in this country when you return.
Do you know that? You understand English. Good. Well, remember, you can take out five pounds in notes, but not more than five pounds. The maximum is five pounds in notes. Five. Five. Five pounds in notes. Get it?
Ahhh! You mean five pounds in notes! Yay! A burst pipe. Here's what you should do.
Shut off the water immediately at the stop valve. If you don't know where it is, find out now. Then if flooding continues, turn on the coat taps to empty the storage tank. But remember to turn off the immersion heater or put out the boiler if you have one before turning on the hot taps.
Find the burst pipe and find it tightly with waterproof material. If the water has come in contact with any electrical fittings, turn off at the mains. And then when you've done all that, call the plumber.
