Good evening ladies and gentlemen. Tonight, Lady Esther presents the Screen Guild Players in one of the great classics of the screen. The Paramount Picture, Ruggles of Red Gap, with Charles Loughton and Charlie Ruggles in their original roles.

The Lady Esther Screen Guild Players in Ruggles of Red Gap. The happy days before the war. Spring time in Paris and all the world is gay. With one exception, his lordship George Aeth earl of Bernstet. Waking from a pitful night's sleep, he regards his breakfast with a billius eye. As his gentleman's gentleman, Ruggles the perfect servant, looks on

anxiously. And sir, you're not touching your breakfast sir. I don't think I can go at Ruggles. Anything wrong, sir? Everything. I had dinner last night with Mr. and Mrs. Plowed. The, uh, Americans? Yes. They taught me their native card game, er...

Not as Tracey, sir. I say, Ruggles. How are you about sharks? Sharks, if you're not sure. Yeah, upheavals, these slings and arrows about breeders fortune. All that sort of rock. I trust I've always stood up to them pretty well, sir.

Then I fancy you'll do yourself all right in America, Ruggles. Me, sir, America. It's as painful to me as it is to you, right? Becca, sir, a country of slavery. I think that's all finished.

Believe some chap by the name of Lincoln did something about it. Will it be North or South, America, sir? North, I imagine. Somewhere on the West Coast, Ohio, one of those Indian places. The chap's a sort of a millionaire.

The chap, sir. Sir. The Eggbud Johnny, Eggbud Ploughs. Money, no end, mines, lumber, domestic animals, that sort of thing. And his wife has taken a great fancy to you. So he'll be coming over presently to collect you?
