First Tune - Night Herding Song

Life on the Red Horse Ranch. The Alabam Rose and Mr. Carter remain at Red Horse Ranch. The rest of the outfit are out on the rounder, bringing in all of the Red Horse herd.

Mr. Carter intends to sell his entire herd this spring in order to raise enough money to save his Red Horse Ranch. Because of Alabam's recent injury, Mr. Carter placed Steve Bradford in charge of his outfit on the rounder.

on the round up. Let's join them. It's evening. Alright, Bob. You and I are all right on into camp with us on the meet. You'll be doing night herd tonight with ten-foot. Wouldn't you know harm to double up the guard when at Bradford?

Getting all these cows back to the Red Horse Ranch is mighty important. I am boss of this outfit now. I'll give instructions. And you'll be back with the herd as soon as you can. Ride round them slow and see that they don't spray off the bedground.

I reckon we know how to night herd. Being with the Red Horse outfit for the last fifteen years. You'll take my orders now, Idaho, or you'll pack out of here, Prado. Alabam isn't your boss now.

So I've noticed. I'll get on up to the chuck wagon. I'll be expecting you out here with a hurt and a half hour. Well, I guess we might as well put on the morale, Idaho.

Yeah. Let's go, Prasen. If that Bradford knows how to round up a herd of cows, I'm a sod-butten squatter. Round up, Bradford. Some day I'm going to fly off without Ombre. What's he doing out here anyhow trying to tell a country what to do?
