Ladies and gentlemen, the Railroad Hour. And here comes our star-studded show train. Tonight, the Association of American Railroads brings you the famous Jerome Kern musical, The Girl from Utah, starring Gordon Macrae and his lovely guest Anne Ayers.

Our choir is on the direction of Norman Luboff, and our music is prepared and conducted by Carmen Dragon. Yes, tonight another memorable musical evening is brought to you by the American Railroads. The same railroads that bring you the food you eat, the clothes you wear, the fuel you burn, and the multitude of other things you use in your daily life.

And tonight, before we get underway, we want to give an extra tug on the whistle. In salute to the more than 5,000 members of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, who are gathered in New York City tight for the start of their winter general meeting.

Several sessions will be devoted to electrical engineering aspect and we wish all the members of the Institute a successful and rewarding meeting. And now here is our star, Gordon MacRae. Thank you, Marvin Miller. And good evening, ladies and gentlemen.

Listen. Remember that? Why, of course you do. It's the hit song from one of the best remembered shows in musical history. Anne Ares and I are going to try to recapture some of the magic of the London Theatre of 1912.

As the curtain goes up on to your own curd and chanting, Girl from Utah. Tonight we take you for a while for the lure of a song and smile and lift the parest laughter. I'm happy to set the style.

Our friend thought of a worker day where the only work is played With not a thought there are furs The only thoughts in the day The songs and smiles, the laughs and the aisles Are nonsense But our story doesn't begin on the stage of a theatre It begins on the channel boat about half way between Calais and Dover
