Hamalik, soap, your beauty hope, and lustre cream shampoo for soft glamorous, caressable hair bring you our Miss Brooks starring E. Varden. And Miss Brooks, who teaches English at Madison High School, was as grateful as any other teacher for the Washington's birthday holiday observed last week.
And far be it for me to criticize the actions of the father of our country, but I can't help wishing that he had taken more than just one day to be born. Of course the one day off was better than nothing, but I must admit I look forward to a weekend of not teaching with considerable anticipation.
It isn't that I'm not fond of my pupils, I think they're a wonderful horde of kids. But after the events of last Friday, I seriously considered giving up teaching and taking a course in rug-tapping or peanut art.
It started Friday after school. Mr. Boynton, the usually bashful biologist, displayed a surprisingly different attitude when I entered his laboratory. Hello, Mr. Boynton. Oh, hello, Miss Brooks. I was just going to come down to your room.
Oh, then I'll get back there right away. I wouldn't want to miss you. Well, I guess what I have to say can be said here, all right? Although I can't help wishing the surroundings were different.
Different? Yes, Miss Brooks. More romantic. Romantic? Mm-hmm. I know I haven't been the most aggressive chap in the world, I do think of other things besides my biological experiments, things that are well more personal.
Personal? Yes. Things that a man thinks about a woman sometimes, whether she's a fellow teacher or not. Or not? Just move my needle and notch to the right. Mr. Boynton, what is it you're trying to tell me I like to think?
