but to defend with equal vigor, the rights and privileges of all its citizens. This is David Bryan. In a moment, we'll bring you another case from the files of Mr. District Attorney. The first a word from our sponsor.
And now, here is our star, David Bryan, as Paul Garrett. Mr. District Attorney. The welfare of a city or county is not jeopardized by criminals alone. Nature itself is capable of sudden and unexpected violence that can lead to terror and death.
This case started as part of a natural calamity. The gasoline trucks skidded on a wet street, hitting a power pole near the city gas works. Sparks exploded the truck and, like a chain reaction, the storage tanks.
In a matter of seconds, the entire section was rocked with explosions, as flames swept a quarter-mile area of warehouses and tenements. Seventy-two hours later, the combined fire departments of several cities were still struggling to get the flames under control.
The death toll and damages were appalling. Look, just look at that smoke. Did you get the latest vision of the paper? Yeah, 300 deaths so far, more than 100 still missing. Lots of bodies unidentified.
One of the names of that, ballistic dead. Oh, right there in page one, 20 about 25 so far. Well, it's named... What is it? No, no, no, he's probably all right. Now working square like him would be all right.
