Lux presents Hollywood. Leaver Brothers Company, the makers of Lux Flakes, bring you the Lux Radio Theatre, starring Frank Sinatra, Katherine Grayson, and Jean Kelly in Anchors Away. Ladies and gentlemen, your producer, Mr. William Keeley.
Things from Hollywood, ladies and gentlemen. And to that, may I add very special holiday greetings. This time of year calls for music, Gay, Gay, and Laughter, and so we've gone out of our way to bring you all three in a play that so many of you have requested.
Metro Golden Mayor's great screen hit anchors away, and to do it full justice, we present its three original stars, Frank Sinatra, Catherine Grayson, and Jean Kelly. In a delightful comedy romance highlighted by unforgettable songs, songs I am sure you'll all be humming as you leave the theatre.
Humming tomorrow, maybe, as you wash those dishes in rich mild luck-suds. For especially this time of year, when entertaining is an almost daily ritual and time is precious, I'm sure Lux flakes are brightening the holidays by helping you care for your nice things more easily and quickly.
And in that way, they're promising a happy new year to you all. It's time for Anchors Away and Here's Our First Act, starring Frank Sinatra as Clarence Doolittle, Catherine Grayson as Susan, and Jean Kelly as Joe Brady.
It's toward the end of the war, and one of our fighting ships has just dropped anchor in the harbor of San Pedro, California. Among the sailors granted a four-day leave after eight months at sea are Joe Brady and Clarence Doolittle.
Joe, with his first step on shore, instinctively dashed for the nearest telephone. Clarence, as always, tagging at his heels. Well, well, come on, get in right now. Cuz, Joe, looks like every sailor who got leave wants a telephone.
