Lux presents Hollywood. The Brothers Company, the makers of Lux Flakes, bring you the Lux Radio Theatre, starring Mickey Rooney, Elizabeth Taylor, and Donald Chris in National Velvet. Ladies and gentlemen, your producer, Mr. William Kealey.

Greetings from Hollywood, ladies and gentlemen. Tonight we welcome to this theatre, a young man whose popularity has made him him sorely miss during his absence in the service. I refer, of course, to Mickey Rooney, playing tonight the last great role that he created before going in the Army. With Mickey on our stage, a lovely Elizabeth Taylor and Donald Crisp from the original Screencast,

they appear in Metro Golden Mayors' thrilling and enchanting screen hit, National Velvet, The story of a boy and girl and a horse who brings them dreams of glory in a little town in England. And speaking of England, a friend of ours in Nova Scotia forwards a letter she received from relatives in London thanking her for a package which she sent.

The letter says, I don't know who was more thrilled, but children or their mother. It was really exciting to see a package of lux flakes again. I felt like washing all my precious things immediately.

Well, I'm sure that gratitude for Lux Flakes is a feeling that we in the United States share readily with our English cousins, another token of hands across the sea. We crossed that sea now with the opening act of National Velvet, starting Mickey Rooney as my Elizabeth Taylor as Velvet and Donald Crisp as Mr. Brown,

Where the genet's got as Mrs. Brown. Three weeks now I'd been on the road and sundown this day I'd be in the village of Sools. For someone lived in Sools whom my father once knew.
