Lux Radio Theatre brings you Ethel Barrymore, Brian Ahern, and Joan Dupre in None but the Lonely Heart. Ladies and gentlemen, your producer, Mr. William Kealey. Greetings from Hollywood, ladies and gentlemen. Just ten years ago this week, after two seasons in New York, the Lux Radio Theatre came to Hollywood.
Celebrating that event, we are bringing you tonight one of the most honored names in the American Theatre, Ethel Barramont. Interpreting the role that won her an Academy Award, she appears tonight in RKO's unusual and moving screen hit, none but the lonely half.
Coast Starred with her is the distinguished actor, Brian Ahurn, also June to pray in her original screen role. Our story is late in London a few years before the war, but it might be any city.
as Ernie Mart might be a citizen of any country, a human symbol of man's rest-mistice against the background of this changing and exciting world. I was stationed in London during the war, and at many post-exchanges and bomber stations were kept an open bin in which the men would deposit presents for the English, candy for
the children and for the grown-ups, precious articles like soap and soap flakes. I remember vividly the gratitude of our English friends on receiving a package of Lux flakes, a product that would help them guard their scarce and precious fabrics as well as lighten household chores in times of stress.
I am sure that products like Lux flakes make many friends for us among our allies overseas. We bring you now the opening act of none but the lonely heart, starting Brian Ahurne as Ernie Mart, Ethel Barrymore Esmar and June Defray Azeda with Lester Matthews as Jim Mordenoy.
