Lux presents Hollywood. The Lux Radio Theatre brings you Alice Faye and Don N'Michi in Vavacious Lady. Ladies and gentlemen, your producer, Mr. Cecil B. D'Amel. Greetings from Hollywood, ladies and gentlemen. And to salute an extra-special Grade A four-star salute to 1941.
We haven't got a crystal ball handy, so we can't predict what the hit plays of this new year will be. But we can make another prediction that whatever those hits are, we'll have the cream of the crop right here in the Lux Radio Theatre.
And that goes for the stock crop too. But tonight, since 1941 is yet too young to have plays of its own, we bring you a comedy that would be a hit in any year by Vacious Lady with two stars who'd pack any theatre, Alice Faye and Donna Michie.
You'll hear down as a young college professor in this adaptation of the RKO picture. A professor who acquires a beautiful torch singer as a bride, brings her back to college and totally upsets the academic calm of the campus.
Alice Fay is the lady, the vivacious lady, who won't put up with academic calm, especially when it involves the man she loves. It's a situation that producers call box office, and that's how we want to start the new year.
You see, our box office is very different from the kind they have in ordinary theatres, and our box office reports tell a unique story. They tell of an audience that covers an entire continent. An audience we have to please in two ways, with our plays and with our product, Luxflakes.
Here in the Lux Radio Theatre, it takes plenty of good hard work to please you. But once you've tried it, we don't have to worry about our product pleasing you. up for the year 1940, our box office story has a happy ending because the mailbag is heavier than ever from Boston Harbor to the Golden Gate. More women are finding luck's flakes
