Swing High Swing Low

Lux presents Hollywood. The Lux Radio Theatre brings you Rudy Valley, Virginia Bruce, Una Merkel, and Roscoe Carnes in Swing High, Swing Low. Ladies and gentlemen, your producer, Mr. Cecil B. DeMille. Greetings from Hollywood, ladies and gentlemen.

This evening, to borrow the tactics of a toastmaster, we introduce a man who needs no introduction. Rudy Valley, staked out one of the first claims to radio popularity and continues to be worth his weight in gold at the box office.

The first time I went on the air was Rudy who introduced me. Tonight I give fair exchange by introducing him and a new identity. Dropping his triple character of orchestra leader, singer and master of ceremonies, Rudy He steps into the single personality of Skid Johnson, the singer in our place, swing high swing low, and starring with him, much to our delight in his, we have the lovely Virginia

Bruce, an inspiration to any singer. Swing high swing low, adapted from the Paramount screen success, is the story of a small time entertainer who makes good on the big time, and of the woman who loves him, before he swings high and after his things low again.

Although you will hear Rudy Valley playing and singing only one role in this production, I have to confess that he played a second important part backstage. He was our technical advisor, our expert on the background of the story.

And playing an all important part off stage, of course, is the real producer of these plays, Luxe toilet soap. So besides making hits possible on our stage, Lux toilet soap makes a hit off stage two with the ladies and delivers a star performance of its own.
