58- Practice Basketball Game

Jerry at Ferrocks! I didn't see you coming here. I know you didn't.

Well, what do you think of the great Game of Basketball, the first time you've seen it? Well, it's really the first time I've come into close contact with it. Seems like a very thrilling game, very fast with plenty of action.

You ought to make good player, Bruce. You're tall enough, pretty rangy. Oh, I say, do you think I'd be able to make it go off it? Hmm, you never know until you try. Well, you know, I'm almost tempted to get into my gym kit to have a go at it.

Oh, why don't you? Well, I'm afraid I'd be a terrible dud at it. I really don't know the first thing about me that did anyone else until he learned about it. I'll tell you what, I'll give you a few pointers.

Something tells me that you could really do yourself proud on a basketball court. I very well read. I'd appreciated a great deal if you would. Sure. Wait a minute, let's see. There's one, two, three...

What are you counting? Four, five, six, and Dugan and Phillips makes ten counting you and me. What? I was just counting how many fellows there were on the floor. There are eight out there, and with you and me we have two full teams.

We might be able to get up a little practice game just for the fun of it. And that way you'd learn about it and be playing it at the same time. Oh, I'd rather not go out on the floor without knowing a thing I- Come on, come on, everyone has to learn.
