The Whistlin Ghost Hoppy and California are on their way back from the state capital up north after taking care of some bar 20 business California who used to live in this territory has talked Hoppy and taken a shortcut to Elbow Creek where they planned to spend the night Before they finished the ride down to the bar 20 the next day
They should have been an Elbow Creek hours ago, but California's shortcut has taken a lot longer than he expected It's burning, Hoppy. Now I went and got us lost. If I'd known I was taking us the long way around, I'd have kept my mouth shut tighter than a spun bear trap.
We're not lost, California. We just don't know where we are. I ought to know. I practically grew up in Elbow Creek. Hey, hold on a minute. Yep. Right up here is Patty Bowman's head. Friend of yours?
Friend. Oh, why Patty and me was like brothers once. Say, Holly, why don't we bunk there tonight, huh? He'd be glad to put us up. That's a good idea. I could sure use him sleeping in my gully.
I could sure use him supper. Oh, boy. Bacon, beans. Always high. Oh, oh. He seemed to be any cabin. No light, no smoking a chimney. Listen. Yeah. It's Patty. That's the way he always used to whistle.
That's his tuna. I'd know it anywhere. Oh, he's in a ravine down there. Let's get down a meeting. Patty! Patty Bauman! What kind of hospitality is that? He's a shooting at us. Hey Patty! It's me, California Carlson, your own friend!
Hey! Didn't last two shots was close. I'm glad that last one wasn't any closer. Come on, let's get over behind the camera. I'm right with you, Hoppy. Oh, Patty must be out of his head.
