(SA) Cruel Sky

Adventure! An aircraft emergency at high altitude. This is tonight's story. The Cruel Sky by Graham Longsdale. Looks like we're in for a bad storm. You can say that again. Just look at the sky out there.

Hmm. Jockey 1. That's the coal we're expecting. Those two jets from Brown Hill, Antles Base. Have you got them on the scope? Yeah, that are pushing on P5-1, 50,000 feet at the Mach Point 8.

River Bridge control to Jockey 1. 5 square. Over. Jockey 1 for flight 303. River Bridge control to Jockey 1. You're clear for descent and landing on runway 2. Wind speed at ground level is force 1. Hardly moving the sock.

I think we're having the lull before the storm hits us. How's the weather up there, over? Down. Roger Jockey 1. River Bridge control out. Jockey 1. Well, bet they could do with some coffee. They'll be sure glad to get out of the turbulence up there.

You know, a few years back I was flying in the train and threw a bad storm. One moment we were going along normally and the next we were upside down. The weather was tossing us around like a cork and a rough sea.

Yes, I know what it's like. It could be pretty hairy. Yeah. Well, in a few minutes those two will start descending and they'll be home and dry. Where did you call it? River Bridge control over.

Well, now what? That's Jucky, one's part there. River Bridge control to Jockey 2, over. Collision. River Bridge to Jockey 1, do you read me? Over. On the radar, there's a bleep going straight down. Yeah.

It's in a dive. Jockey 2 is straight and level on P51. Are you receiving me Jockey 1? River Bridge control to Jockey 1, over. Did you see him eject from the aircraft? Can you make it all right to River Bridge?
