Destination Freedom. Destination Freedom, dramatization of the great democratic heritage of the Negro people, is brought to you by Station WMAQ as a part of the Passion of History, and of America's own Destination Freedom. Ace Architect, Paul R. Williams, pioneered in a field formerly regarded as forbidden to Negro Americans, and became one of the nation's leading builders and designers.

In a chapter entitled, The Houses That Paul Built, we tell the architect's story. In the city of Los Angeles, the once lived a boy who dreamed of building blocks around space and becoming a sculptor with stone and steel.

In his child's world he dug tunnels all the way under the Pacific Ocean, and he built skyscraper hotels higher than Mount Whitney. And when his anxious mother missed him, she generally had a pretty good idea of work on love.

Oh Paul, is everything alright Paul? At least you can do Frank, he's helped me look for that son of yours. He's around Amy, don't be upset in his self. Every time he come out by the river he takes in the sand.

I wish he wouldn't always be digging in hiding himself. You're ditching digging in the sand, isn't it? It's something deeper and ditch digging at Paul's after. I've thought of everything there is about sand around the river here down to 50 feet of it. He's over there He was trading hocks see those sand buildings come on. I'll bet you he's behind him. He's my son. All right

Paul yeah, mom. Oh hi. Did you get a part of that tunnel before it came in on you? Get out for sure mom sure What's this your building Paul subway like the one they got in London? There's here's the station I haven't finished again tracks here for the trains that come in And this is a garage where trucks have come in.
