World News Today brought to you by Continental Radio and Television Corporation, makers of Admiral Radio, America's Smart Set. By shortwave broadcast, direct from important overseas stations, as well as the leading news centers of our own country, CBS correspondents are waiting to bring you a complete report from the world's political and battle fronts.

But first, here's Doug Edwards. The North African Land front is quiet, but allied planes are hurling death and destruction on the axis over a wide area of the Mediterranean. American Lieutenant-General Spots reports that his allied air force commands the skies in that battle zone.

The Russians are increasing their air attacks on the eastern end of the Axis European fortress, and our own pliers have again bombed jet targets in the North and South Pacific. Now for our first overseas report, Admiral Radio takes you direct to CBS Algiers, Charles Collingwood reporting.

This is Charles Caulingwood at Allied Force headquarters in North Africa. There's a lot of air activity going on over what's left of the Tunisian front, but not much else. This is not yet the time for large-scale ground fighting.

While the land forces were patrolling 130 miles of African front yesterday, flying forces were going to Palermo and Saridil, and the medium and light bombers were ceaselessly attacking enemy communications. They just tankers and transports, dry dock and rolls and trucks.

From all of the targets which an airport at the feet of its performance goes after and hits. The story of yesterday's air war sounds very much like the story of any day in the last couple of weeks.

Ships and roads and dry docks and the days before in our favor, 29 to 8. It's almost so much like yesterday or the day before, but it's almost boring. But that's the stuff that air superiority is made of, and that's what you get air superiority for, so that every day you can go out and sink the enemy ships and bomb his roads and strap his troops.
