What happens
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello set out in a rented car to hire the Andrews Sisters for their coming radio show. Their trip is complicated by a series of accidents, Mrs. Niles's angry reaction to a wrecked car, and a stranded journey toward the Andrews Sisters' ranch. Costello's quarrelsome, muddled logic keeps leading them into trouble, including a hotel mix-up and a salesman offering a cheaper act called the Andrews Brothers. The episode is from the Abbott and Costello radio series, originally broadcast on April 5, 1945, on NBC and ABC.
Southern California in 1945, including a route to the Andrews Sisters' ranch, a desert town near Palm Springs, and a hotel.
Characters: Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Mrs. Niles, Mr. Niles, Connie Haines, Mr. Melonhead
Listen for: Costello's confused exchanges with Abbott about who will drive the rented car, and the hotel clerk's mix-up over the tenth floor.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
