What happens

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello decide to start a small-town newspaper in Sherman Oaks, and Costello, who knows little of journalism, is eager to report. They pursue a series of gossip and news leads, including a neighbor's marital quarrel and a visiting columnist. Costello keeps cutting in with his own stories and jokes, and the two men try to produce a front-page story before the paper goes to press. The episode features Connie Haines singing, and columnist Hedda Hopper appears as a guest playing herself. The broadcast is from the Abbott and Costello radio series, first aired on March 2, 1944, on NBC and ABC.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
