What happens

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello play themselves as they prepare to cast their next picture at MGM. Costello, having been persuaded to take on the role of mayor of Sherman Oaks, teases his partner about their search for a leading lady. Several hopefuls turn up at the studio, and the two comics squabble over who will get the lead opposite a visiting star. The episode centers on their comic bickering and their attempts to plan a film, with the program also featuring a sponsored segment for Camel cigarettes. Dorothy Lamour, Ken Niles and Connie Haines appear in the broadcast.

The MGM studio lot and nearby offices, with a sketch set in the desert of a film script.

Characters: Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Ken Niles, Dorothy Lamour

Listen for: The running argument between Abbott and Costello over who should star opposite Dorothy Lamour, and Costello's mock-serious desert film scene.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
