What happens
Bud Abbott and Lou Costello star as themselves in this 1944 episode of their radio comedy series, first broadcast on February 10, 1944. Costello is sending a Valentine's card and argues with Abbott over street addresses before the two turn to a stage version of Robinson Crusoe. Connie Haines and guest Charles Laughton join them as the cast prepares a play, and the rehearsal ends in a comic shipwreck and a tense encounter with a voodoo queen, played by Elvia Allman, who holds a sacrificial fire. Much of the broadcast is taken up with the rivalry over who gets the lead parts and with the duo's exchanges with the sound man, Bud Twink.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
