What happens

Bud Abbott and Lou Costello play themselves in an episode where Costello is determined to become a dramatic actor. Susan Miller and Matty Malneck appear as the show's featured performers. Costello pursues Susan, who wants a man who has lived, and Abbott offers him a series of comic tests and advice. Costello visits a talent agent named Mr. Whitney, who lists a range of unlikely acting jobs, and later a screen test for a picture about Sidney Greenstreet is arranged. The episode originally aired on January 7, 1948, on NBC and ABC.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
