What happens

Lou Costello is urged by Mrs. Saddlesore, an old school acquaintance from Paterson, New Jersey, to run for mayor of South Paterson. Costello agrees and sets off with Bud Abbott to catch a train east. Their preparations are muddled by a series of comic misunderstandings, including a dispute over a lower berth, a stopover to say goodbye to friends, and a taxi driver who takes them in circles. The Abbott and Costello program, sponsored by Camel cigarettes, was broadcast over NBC and ABC in 1946. Lead actors Bud Abbott and Lou Costello are joined by Connie Haines and Elvia Allman.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
