What happens
In 1965, test pilot Steve Weston takes the experimental rocket ship X2JTR up from a desert airfield for a flight beyond the outer limits of Earth's atmosphere, under the supervision of Hank Hanson. Fuel is limited to ten minutes, and when the ship goes silent, the base assumes Steve is lost. Hours later he returns, shaken, and tells of an encounter with an unknown object in space. This episode of the NBC radio series X Minus One, first broadcast on November 16, 1955, is an adaptation of the Graham Doar story The Outer Limit. The transcript covers only the first part of the episode.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
