What happens

Mark Weldon, an actor who plays old men, investigates a string of deaths in which elderly people starved themselves while carrying large sums of money. His friend Sergeant Lou Pace lets him look into the cases, and Weldon's inquiry leads him to a shabby room, an unusual ink sample and an odd job advertisement. Pursuing the matter, Weldon finds himself confronted by Mae Roberts, daughter of a dismissed physicist. The episode is the X Minus One dramatization of H. L. Gold's story The Old Die Rich, broadcast on NBC on July 17, 1956, in cooperation with Galaxy Science Fiction magazine.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
