What happens

Professor Donald Taylor's daughter Mary has spent months recording interviews with Joseph Kali, a captive soldier of the Asian Confederation, in an underground Western society fighting a long surface war. Mary grows close to Joseph, and when Colonel Moss learns of their relationship, Joseph is sent up to the surface to be destroyed. Mary and her father then question the robots and surface conditions they had always been told about. This is an X Minus One episode first broadcast on May 22, 1956, based on a story by Philip Dick.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
