What happens

Captain Chocken and passenger Mr. Danbury travel to Pluto Station 3 to pick up Colin Ord, the lone officer who has lived there for over two years. Ord is suffering from solitosis, a condition born of isolation, and he has been imagining visitors, including a woman named Una. The story follows Ord as he struggles to tell whether his visitors are real, and as the crew of the pickup ship prepares for the return journey. This is an episode of the science fiction anthology X Minus One, which aired on NBC on May 15, 1956, adapted from a story by J. T. McIntosh.

A space beam station on Pluto and a pickup rocket orbiting the planet, in deep space

Characters: Captain Chocken, Mr. Danbury, Colin Ord, Una, Dr. Lina Starling, Marilyn

Listen for: Ord's daily reports and his conversations with the visitors who appear to him, which show how he tests whether they are real

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
