What happens
Captain James McIntyre and his engineer Charlie are down on their luck, running a battered rocket for hire. They are approached by D.D. Harriman, a wealthy businessman and lifelong dreamer who wants to reach the moon before his heart gives out. Despite legal troubles, company restrictions, and a court order that blocks him from travel, Harriman arranges for an old strato yacht to be converted for spaceflight in the desert. The episode is adapted from Robert Heinlein's story Requiem and was broadcast on X Minus One, an NBC radio series, on October 27, 1955.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
