What happens

Duke, a fugitive, arrives at the isolated house of Professor Blasman, who has built a humanlike robot called Junior and is raising it as a child. Duke learns of the creature and decides to stay, using it to help him with a plan. Lola, the nurse, grows frightened as Junior begins to echo Duke's views about people and about who must be destroyed. Duke's partner Charlie, meanwhile, becomes uneasy about the crimes they are committing. The story is part of the X Minus One radio series, first broadcast on August 11, 1955, and is adapted from Robert Bloch's story Almost Human.

A shuttered, isolated house where a professor secretly raises a robot child, and the highways of Massachusetts where an armored truck is stopped by a robot.

Characters: Duke, Lola, Junior, Professor Blasman, Charlie, Miss Williams, Al, Sam

Listen for: Junior's voice repeating its lessons, and the robot's final words to Lola.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
