What happens

Vic and Sade is an old-time radio serial, and this episode, Vic the Irish Policeman, aired on 1946-07-11 with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson leading the cast. On a quiet summer afternoon in the Gook household, Vic comes home from the office early wearing a policeman's uniform. Chief of Police Cullerton arrives to use the living room as a temporary headquarters while his office is being redecorated, and he waits there for news of a wanted criminal. Uncle Fletcher, Mrs. Fraw and a stream of visitors and telephone calls keep the afternoon lively, and Vic enjoys his new authority. The story is told in a loose, rambling style typical of the program.

The Gook living room in a small house in the next block on a warm summer afternoon around two o'clock.

Characters: Vic Gook, Sade Gook, Rush Gook, Uncle Fletcher, Chief Cullerton, Mrs. Brown, Mr. Fraw

Listen for: Vic's Irish dialect, Uncle Fletcher's rambling reminiscences, and the telephone calls about the wanted criminal.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
