What happens

Rush Gook is up past midnight when his father, Vic Gook, returns home from a meeting and finds him sitting in his easy chair. Rush explains that Rooster Davis, a friend of his, is sleeping upstairs because relatives from Grand Rapids arrived unexpectedly at the Davis house. Vic is unsure about the arrangement and worries about how his wife will react when she learns of it. The story is part of the Vic and Sade radio series, first broadcast on May 11, 1939, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles. Vic and Sade is a domestic comedy following a small-town household in the Midwest.

Characters: Vic Gook, Rush Gook, Rooster Davis, Rotten Davis, Roper Davis

Listen for: Vic's growing exasperation as Rush explains that more Davis boys have ended up sleeping upstairs than he first admitted

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
