What happens

Sade Gook muses to herself while helping her husband Vic with office work at home. Vic must recopy invoices that are due in Chicago the next morning, and Sade's friend Ruthie and their neighbor Fred are waiting to go out. Sade reflects on her afternoon chat with Mrs. Scott, first warm and pleasant, then recalling a sharp, lecturing talk from the week before. She compares Mrs. Scott to an old acquaintance, Lena Welcher, and weighs whether a friendship with her could work. Vic and Rush keep at their copying while Sade talks on. The series is Vic and Sade, the episode is dated January 9, 1940, and it stars Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
