What happens
Vic and Sade is an episode from 1944, first broadcast on July 24, 1944, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the lead roles. Vic returns home from a long walk with her son Russell and lays out her grievance: she has learned that Robert and Slabertink of Hoopsden, Illinois, have been trying to push her out as leader of the All-Star Marching Team. She reports that the twin brothers have been writing to Honky J. Spunger, the team's contact, and that they have offered him bribes. Vic declares she will write the most blistering letter ever composed, and the household chatter continues around her.
A small house halfway up the next block, in the living room and hallway, late in the afternoon.
Characters: Vic, Sade, Russell, Robert and Slabertink, Honky J. Spunger, George, Ruthie
Listen for: Vic's account of Robert and Slabertink's bribes to Honky J. Spunger and her plan to write a scathing letter.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
