What happens
Vic and Sade, a mother and her son, are walking home from a movie when they find the neighborhood searching the alley and yards for Mr. Gumpox's lost dentures. Neighbors comb the grass and garbage area while the two of them trade jokes and theories about how the expensive false teeth could have been lost. Vic is skeptical and amused by the whole search. The story appears in the Vic and Sade radio series, which was broadcast in 1944 on NBC, CBS and Mutual, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson in the leading roles.
A residential street in a small town, with yards and an alley behind the houses, in late afternoon in summer.
Characters: Vic, Sade, Russell, Mr. Gumpox, Miss Harris, Miss Carco, Mrs. Drummond, Mr. Overholed
Listen for: Vic and Russell's conversation about the movie, and then the neighbors' search for Mr. Gumpox's teeth, with the teeth turning up at the end of the excerpt.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
