What happens

Vic Gulk and his wife Sade sit at home in the evening with their son Russell, who is reading aloud from a romantic novel that nobody wants to hear. The family's chatter turns to Miss Palm Palm Cordova, a visiting guest from the Bahamas, and to news Vic has picked up about her membership in a lodge. Vic tells the family that she was once a girl from Emporia, Kansas, and recounts a story involving E.W. Smith and his habit of stealing horses. The family discusses whether to hold a party to welcome her, and their talk turns to planning food and music for the gathering.

Characters: Vic Gulk, Sade Gulk, Russell Gulk, Miss Palm Palm Cordova, E.W. Smith, Dr. Kivy, Helen

Listen for: Vic's excited, long-winded account of Miss Cordova's lodge membership and the E.W. Smith horse-stealing story, and Sade's teasing responses.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
