What happens
Vic Cook and his wife Sade sit down together in their living room to sort through a box of suggestions for a Christmas present for Vic's boss, Mr. Rubish. Vic has been left with the task after asking employees at the Consolidated Kitchenware Company plant to drop in written ideas, and the couple reads through the cards aloud. Some suggestions are sensible, some are odd, and a few are clearly jokes or misdirected notes from other people. Vic hopes to find the item most often suggested, so the list is read through and the repeated ideas are noted. The series is Vic and Sade, first broadcast on 1942-10-27 on NBC, CBS and Mutual, with Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson as the lead actors.
The living room of the Cooks' small house, late afternoon, with the Consolidated Kitchenware Company plant as the source of the suggestion cards.
Characters: Vic Cook, Sade Cook, Mr. Rubish, Irving
Listen for: Vic and Sade reading the suggestion cards aloud, looking for the gift item most often suggested, with several cards that drift into unrelated personal notes.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
