What happens

Vic Gugge and his son Rush are playing rummy in the living room when Sade, Vic's wife, suggests he write to his brother-in-law Walter. Vic resists, saying he has nothing to say, and Sade pushes him to put his thoughts on paper. Bernardine Flynn and Bill Idelson are the lead actors of this Vic and Sade episode, recorded in 1939 and aired on NBC, CBS or Mutual as the transcript indicates. The family works through several rough drafts of the letter, with Vic and Rush trading suggestions, while the exchange shifts between teasing and mild frustration.

The living room of the Gugge family's small house in the middle of the block, in the early evening.

Characters: Vic Gugge, Sade, Rush Gugge, Walter, Beth

Listen for: Vic and Rush trying to draft a letter to Walter, and the family's back-and-forth over what should go in it.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
