What happens
The Whistler follows District Attorney Henry Banning and his troubled son Clyde after a New Year's Eve drive turns deadly. Clyde's sweetheart, Ellen Blake, pressed him to marry her, and her body was later found on the ocean highway. Clyde's chauffeur, Rollins, begins blackmailing him, and Clyde is soon drawn into a dispute with Ellen's father, the crime boss Jim Blake. When Rollins is found shot dead above the garage, Banning must decide how to handle his own family's involvement. The story is told through the family's rising suspicion and the police investigation that follows.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
