What happens

On Christmas Eve, Joe Blake looks after his young nephew Timmy in New York while Steve, a detective lieutenant and Joe's brother-in-law, is away from the apartment. Joe works at a department store, where its safe is opened that night, and Steve accuses him of the theft. Joe is convicted and sent to prison. Two years later, Joe is released, takes a job as secretary to the wealthy John Kenton, and becomes engaged to Kenton's daughter Della. He learns that Steve has been drinking and that Timmy needs an expensive operation, and two men then force Joe to help them rob the Kenton jewels. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
