What happens
The Whistler tells the story of Bertilda and Amanda Sterling, two sisters living in an old house overlooking a village graveyard. Captain Ethan Haskell has just been buried after dying on the road home from dinner at their house. Bertilda is frightened and uneasy, while Amanda seems calm and practical. The sheriff and the doctor suspect poison, and the sisters' behavior becomes increasingly tense as the investigation moves toward them. This is an episode of The Whistler, the radio series, first broadcast on October 14, 1946, sponsored by Signal Oil.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
