What happens

Clara Marshall, a con artist wanted by the Chicago police, travels through Italy as secretary to wealthy Harriet Wilson. In the fog at Pisa she meets Raymond Hungate, a man who offers to take the tour group to the leaning tower, then abruptly leaves them and slips a diamond necklace into Clara's pocket. Clara and Raymond begin a partnership in selling stolen jewels, while Harriet believes the two are romantically involved. The transcript ends as Clara is confronted by the police and officials over a death on a train bound for Naples.

Italy, 1950s: Pisa, Rome and Naples, and a train between them

Characters: Clara Marshall, Harriet Wilson, Raymond Hungate, Chief Antrini

Listen for: Clara's careful attention to the necklace, and the exchange on the train to Naples where Raymond reveals his plan.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
